About The Produce Lofts at Huron Yards

History of The Okun Produce Building

Before the Okun Produce Building was transformed into a mixed-use downtown destination, it served as the home of Sam Okun Produce Company for nearly 80 years. Originally constructed in 1896 for Jackson Lee & Co., a wholesale produce house, the property was purchased by the Okun family in 1945 for their expanding produce business. It was once the largest and best-equipped produce establishment in the state and the last remaining produce house in the city.

Huron Yards

The Produce Lofts is the first phase of Huron Yards, a $40 million urban development project set to redefine downtown Toledo. Huron Yards will not only encompass one of the most central and highly trafficked blocks downtown but will also enhance accessibility and pedestrian connections within the city. By 2026, the second phase will introduce a new bar/restaurant concept and Regus Office Space at 28 N. Erie Street, a multi-use Beer Garden at 27-29 N. Huron Street and additional parking at 608 Washington Street. The project promises to deliver a fresh blend of live, work, play, and stay amenities and experiences. And we’re just getting started!
